Our client empowers the $2T telco market to move onto the blockchain, with an open, and efficient network for all. They are building a network that enables any party to become a provider of connectivity (and even financial services), bringing blockchain benefits to existing telcos but also opening the world up for new methods of providing connectivity - mesh networks, peer to peer, etc, pushing the economic benefits back to the participants. Their goal is to build the last singular network for the planet, accessible to anyone and owned by everyone.

Company Audience:

  • Telcos are increasingly required to compete with banks on financial services
  • Billions of end-users struggling with multiple expensive accounts and hard-to-access crypto and blockchain-based financial services
  • Connectivity hubs like airlines, cruise ships, local hot spots, in need of ancillary revenues and looking to improve user experience and loyalty
  • Blockchain community, looking for ’legos’ - product functionality - that can easily be integrated into existing products and services. Blockchain projects can both bring users to their network, as well as bringing functionality that can be unlocked for the users of their network

Position:

A VP of Product would bring a level of organization, advocacy, and strategy to their product Org to support its continued evolution as a core node within the organization. They’ll focus their time on both helping level-up and improve the function of the product team’s various functions – Design, PM, and Product Ops – as well as providing transparency and communication channels to the rest of the company to interface with product.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Prior start-up, fast growth, B2C blockchain product experience a MUST
  • Focused on execution: Someone that can scale products to generate $100M+ to $1B+ in annual revenues
  • Intuition and skills: Someone that has the right intuition on what the users want and can iteratively market test things quickly before overcommitting to building
  • Ambitious: Someone that is excited about building a top-10 digital asset that can be owned and used by billions of users in the world
  • Relevant experience: Someone with 10+ years of product leadership experience with multiple of our audiences

Requirements:

  • Prior deep expertise in people management, ideally within organizations they respect that attract top-tier talent
  • Demonstrable strategy/planning ability, knowledge of how a ramped-up, successful tech company looks and acts like. Bonus points for Blockchain, B2B, or telco space
  • Hiring ability – great judgment on candidates, strong understanding of the definition of success and culture, ability to sell and close- Strong network to tap into
  • Own: The strategic thinking required to unlock global product adoption with different stakeholders and for billions of users. Evolution and scaling of the product org over time. The establishment of new processes/competencies and training/transition to others. The visible communication/advocacy of product both internally and externally. Close collaboration with the engineering team.
  • Teach: How to communicate, organize efforts, drive decisions, and manage expectations “up”, “down”, and cross-functionally on behalf of product within the org. In other words, teach everyone about everyone else’s viewpoint in an effective, efficient, productive, way. How to effectively people-manage a scaling org.
  • Learn: Everything about the experience of their users, customers, and partners, for every detail of company product. The internal workings of the org, including priorities/vision/needs of product team members and leadership.
  • Improve: The predictability and throughput of every stage/function of the product org. The product development cycle – adding the next-level of judgment, accountability, and transparency. The alignment of the product org with the rest of the business and their needs.
