Senior PR Communications Manager

Hiltzik Strategies is a strategic communications and consulting firm specializing in message and narrative development, corporate communications, crisis management and litigation support, media relations, digital and social media strategy, research and analysis, and content creation. We serve as a trusted advisor and partner to leading business executives, entrepreneurs, and leaders across media, entertainment, technology, sports, finance, education, public affairs, philanthropy, and other impactful industries.

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior PR Communications Manager for our Communications group in our New York office (with the position to begin remotely) who will enjoy working in a fast-paced, collaborative, creative environment, and who can contribute to our corporate and individual clients in technology, finance, crypto/blockchain, public policy, education, non-profit, and other sectors, and to our growing company overall.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with managing client accounts and taking on day-to-day responsibilities
• Report to Team VP and help oversee team on a range of clients and industries, with a particular emphasis on public policy, education, and non-profit sectors
• Lead interactions with client teams and ensure timely and appropriate response and preparation of deliverables
• Write, edit, and review drafts of press releases, bios, memos, talking points, Q&As, and other client materials
• Liaise with members of the media on incoming inquiries, proactive pitches and navigate potentially sensitive interactions with journalists
• Oversee team’s delivery of media monitoring, accurate reporting, and meeting agendas
• Develop and prepare strategic communications plans
• Prepare clients for media interviews via media training sessions, FAQs, and more
• Generate creative story ideas and topic angles, draft media materials and pitch media to land earned coverage for clients
• Participate in new business pitches including research, brainstorm and presentation
• Act as a mentor for junior employees, providing guidance and feedback

Qualifications:

• 3-6 years of professional experience at a public relations/marketing agency or as part of an in-house communications team; and experience with crypto/blockchain
• Experience working in a client service role and in demanding and dynamic situations
• Background and/or interest in technology, philanthropy, and public policy
• Strong understanding of traditional and non-traditional PR strategies and tactics
• Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with managers, peers, clients, the media, partners, and more
• Self-starter and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines, and driving projects across the finish line
• Exceptional attention to detail, follow up, and organization skills
• Digital and social media savvy a plus
