Master of Vaults (Technical Product Manager)

The role

We are looking for a Master of Vaults to make running a Vault in our system delightful. Vaults are off-chain clients run by technically savvy organizations and individuals - and are the core of our cross-chain network. Vaults provide collateral as insurance against misbehavior, receive Bitcoin into custody from users, and earn network fees in return (read more here.)

As the Master of Vaults, your role is a mixture of technology and product management. Your goal is two-fold:

First, your task is to make sure current Vaults are running smoothly. You can achieve this by testing the Vault client yourself, building dashboards with our current data-sources, discussing new features with the Interlay team and Vaults to put them on the roadmap, or integrating minor features yourself.

Second, you will help with on-boarding new Vaults, coordinate with our and our partner’s tech team and manage the release process of the Vault software. That is, you’re the main coordination point between us and our Vaults.

What you will do (All things “Vaults”)

• Product: Regularly interact with new and current Vaults to figure out what needs improving and communicate this to the dev team - and manage the product roadmap for the Vault client
• Development: Improve the current Vault experience by building minor features yourself (and adding bigger features to the roadmap)
• Support: onboard and train new vaults, ideally automating the process by providing useful scripts and improving guides
• Monitoring: make sure all operators run the latest version, give guidance on upgrading timelines and versions. Run you own Vault to detect possible bugs before release.
• Release coordination: main communication point between the dev team and Vault operators, coordinating the release process and ensuring timelines are clearly communicated (& feasible for Vault operators)

What you bring

• You are very communicative and love to talk with people to improve a product.
• You enjoy working with technology like TypeScript, Rust, Python, shell scripts, and kubernetes. You are likely an expert in one of those and have basic knowledge in the others.
• You like to get things done. You have likely worked in a start-up or product-facing role before and prioritize done over perfect.
• You have build product roadmaps before.
• You have experience with working in an agile environment and have coordinated / helped coordinate release processes for live software

“Nice to have”

• You are familiar with operating nodes in a decentralized network (staking validators, full-nodes, …).
• You have worked with Bitcoin and/or Polkadot nodes before.
• You know TypeScript and Rust.
