About the Filecoin Foundation

The Filecoin Foundation (FF) is an independent organization that facilitates governance of the Filecoin network, funds critical development projects, supports the growth of the Filecoin ecosystem, and advocates for Filecoin and the decentralized web. In 2017, the creators of Filecoin envisioned that an independent Filecoin Foundation would serve as the long-term governance body for the Filecoin Ecosystem. They gave the Foundation the mandate to “grow an open ecosystem for decentralized storage” and to “give developers an open and sustainable platform to build, enhance and monetize those services.” They wanted the Foundation to be modeled on Foundations for other open source projects like the Apache Software Foundation, the Mozilla Foundation and the Linux Foundation. The Filecoin Foundation operates independently of Protocol Labs, the organization that designed and built the Filecoin network. As a member of our early-stage team, you will have the opportunity to help define our growth as the organization scales. This is a full-time position, remote from anywhere in the world.

Job Description

The Developer Grants program is a core program of Filecoin Foundation, aiming to award $350,000 every quarter for work to improve the Filecoin network and widen its functionality. These grants engage community members and fund the development of features and applications on the Filecoin network. We are looking for someone who can manage the implementation of this program and be a key liaison between the developer community and the rest of the developer grants team. You will guide developer groups through the grant application process, support them during development, and help to spotlight their work. Your work will support the development of Filecoin as well as the growth of the Filecoin community. Successful candidates will have a blend of technical and operational experience.

Responsibilities

• Own the implementation of the developer grants program
• Ensure alignment with strategic goals for the grants developer relations program
• Oversee pre- and post-grant administration, including proper record-keeping for grants and grantees
• Coordinate communication with the grants review committee
• Monitor the selection and due diligence of grant applications
• Track status of grants through the program stages
• Participate in the development of grant proposals
• Provide ongoing support for active grants
• Respond to technical and non-technical questions about proposals and the program
• Ensure proper completion of grant requirements and milestones
• Write updates and reports on the program and individual grants
• Recommend process improvements for overall program success
• Develop communication and marketing plans to promote the program and ensure long-term success
• Work with the finance team to ensure timely and compliant payments and financial reporting

Your profile

• At least three years of experience in a project management or other operational role
• Familiarity with (decentralized) applications development; knowledge of dapp development that utilizes Filecoin as a storage layer is an advantage
• Experience working with, or building developer tools and libraries
• High level conversance with the Filecoin technical design, that is, the improvement proposal process, cryptoeconomics design, network architecture
• Familiarity with Open Source Licensing standards
• Experience with technical support for community initiatives
• Experience driving business development and new partnerships
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with developers from a variety of backgrounds
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to juggle multiple projects at different stages
