Zilliqa is looking for an in-house Legal Counsel with a passion to grow Blockchain Expertise and be a critical part of an innovation journey. As our team’s Legal Counsel, you will be overseeing the legal aspects of our business and managing the strategic litigation and regulatory needs of the company. You will be working in a fast-paced and innovative environment where you will play a key role in ensuring that Zilliqa is compliant and constantly ahead of regulatory developments. You will also lead the team in navigating the legal landscape of the blockchain environment by providing thought leadership, strategic direction, and proactive solutions. You will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
Responsibilities
Here’s what your day to day life in Zilliqa will look like:
- Support various business functions by providing legal support to executives, board members, and managers on various matters (employment, information security, data protection, risk assessment, financial regulatory compliance, securities law, investigation and enforcements, corporate licensing and agreements, intellectual properties, merger and acquisitions, etc.).
- Proactively monitor legal and regulatory developments, as well as undertake relevant licensing and regulatory work streams.
- Assist the team in a wide range of legal issues in product development, corporate transactions, drafting and reviewing of various agreements and company guidelines & policies, advising the management on employment laws and vendor agreements, handling licensing filings and forms, etc.)
- Prepare and negotiate agreements with various counterparties.
- Lead and influence the team’s corporate strategies and decision-making by developing legal frameworks that enable optimal development.
Requirements
Here’s what we are looking for in a candidate:
- LL.B, Juris Doctor or equivalent degree from an accredited law school.
- Legal qualifications in good standing from the United Kingdom, United States, or any equivalent qualifications in major EU jurisdictions and/or common law jurisdictions.
- 5 year+ PQE or relevant legal work experience in law firms and/or corporate legal teams.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement in complex situations, with strong writing, negotiation skills and business pragmatism.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Interest to work with a fully-remote and diverse team.
- Background in financial services regulation, TMT, Intellectual Property and Corporate law preferred.
- Understanding of the regulatory landscape in the blockchain industry is a plus.
