System & Mining Operations Administrator

Smith + Crown is a cryptoeconomics research firm looking for a curious and driven system operations administrator to join our team. In this role you’re working directly with the CEO and leadership team to manage and expand a secure, scalable and effective IT infrastructure for the company and ensure it stays that way. This role does not require formal blockchain experience, but a strong drive to learn and passion for the space, and it presents a unique opportunity for training and exposure for the right candidate.

In this role you will collaborate on and support a wide range of company initiatives including a crypto mining/farming operation with company-owned datacenter infrastructure. Smith + Crown will look to your guidance to help deploy and optimize hardware, deploy and build data and research tools for our teams, and run a variety of crypto-infrastructure including nodes and miners. Smith + Crown is a fully virtual team with members across the US and world. This position is remote with potential travel to US based data centers and related facilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage systems and operations across core company infrastructure (internal communication tools, web presence, research and data tools)
• Collaborate with the leadership team to review, develop and implement organizational IT and security policies.
• Work with the mining team to develop physical infrastructure, deployment plans, optimization and hardware planning as well as automation and monitoring systems for mining operations.
• Work with the research team to help develop and expand data processing and monitoring systems.
• Contribute to a variety of advisory engagements on frontier projects across the breath of the blockchain space.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 3 years of experience with systems administration, IT operations and security.
• Scripting experience in writing/modifying code for system monitoring, system automation, data aggregation and data processing.
• Experience with hardware configuration and development.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with automated monitoring and deployment of mining, farming or enterprise hardware.
• Experience with modern smart contract platforms, blockchain technologies and development practices.
• Experience with Unreal and related tools and processes.
• Experience with network and operational security systems and practices.
