Corporate Counsel Lead

We are searching for a Corporate Counsel Lead to help us navigate the dated and choppy waters of Blockchain/Cryptocurrency regulation. We are in a growth stage and have a number of legal tasks we need support on. Everything from sales contract reviews, to defining our legal decentralization plan, to ensuring our protocol is compliant in the number of places we operate. As a Corporate Counsel Lead, you are a talented generalist and team player. Leveraging both breadth and depth of experience at a law firm and/or as in-house counsel, you will lead the drafting, revision, evaluation, and negotiation of strategic partnership, IP licensing, consulting, marketing, non-disclosure, and other financial, commercial, technology, and vendor agreements.

Responsibilities:

• Holistically own our Legal function, partnering with top tier outside firms, ensuring we deeply understand the risk of any actions we take
• Review, evaluate, and negotiate commercial agreements
• Proactively identify and provide risk-weighted advice to the business that succinctly balances commercial upside against corresponding legal, financial, operational, and reputational risk
• Provide legal administrative support to Finance, Operations, and HR
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams as a business partner to spot opportunities based on new legislation
• Collaborate with and support the General Counsel and the rest of the Legal department to evaluate and communicate legal risks to internal stakeholders and external parties

Minimum Qualifications:

• A JD or LLM from a leading accredited U.S. law school and a license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
• 2-3 years of relevant legal experience at a top national law firm and/or in-house legal department
• Experience drafting and negotiating agreements
• Detail-oriented, resourceful with excellent follow-through skills, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Hard-charging, innovative, and comfortable with high levels of responsibility and self-direction
• Strong knowledge of and interest in disruptive technology, financial services, or security; prior experience working in fintech, digital assets or high-growth tech companies
• Fund, investment, or emerging companies experience
• Proven ability to proactively, efficiently, and accurately assess legal business risks in a fast-paced environment
• Track record of creative problem-solving, excellent written and oral communication skills, and creation of strong and trusted cross-functional relationships
