Head of Fidelity Digital Asset Management Investment Services

The role

Fidelity Digital Asset Management [FDAM] is the investment platform offering digital asset products and services designed to meet the growing needs of Fidelity’s retail customers and intermediary and institutional clients. The Head of Investment Services for FDAM works closely with the Head of FDAM in driving the organizational vision and mission. The Head of IS, FDAM, manages a team that is responsible for creating and maintaining the operating model to support the FDAM business unit. In this role, this individual will partners with the Head of FDAM and with the research and portfolio investment and product teams as well as other senior leaders in FDAM and Asset Management (AM) and across Fidelity to provide global operational support for the end-to-end investment process and product development and implementation activities for FDAM products and advisory services.

FDAM Business Management Support

• Collaborate with Head of FDAM in setting and driving organizational vision, operations strategy, and staffing needs
• Develop and design team structure for the FDAM IS team, including defining individual roles and responsibilities, recruitment and onboarding of new associates to the team; focus on developing team to provide dedicated support for FDAM products and broad support for FDAMs operating model and business needs
• Work with FDAM leadership team to implement AM and enterprise-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operations planning; establish FDAM Leadership Scorecards and KPIs
• Facilitate FDAM strategy and planning process, collaborate and leverage resources from AM Strategic Business Initiatives (SBI), Consulting, and other enterprise groups
• Provide support and collaboration with AM Finance on FDAM financial and business results reporting including annual budgeting process, performance KPI scorecard development process, and multi-year planning
• Lead the FDAM IS team in the design and development of the operating infrastructure to enable and support investment products and capabilities investing across the digital asset ecosystem; infrastructure requirements include front, middle, and back office processes supporting portfolio management, trading, asset pricing, valuation and accounting, risk management, and settlement and clearing
• Tokenization – partner with the Head of Tokenization Strategy and Head of FDAM Technology to design and implement the operating infrastructure and support model for the tokenization of financial assets
• Design of FDAM business management processes – establish processes for establishing and maintaining the data and research platform, including managing external research and market data needs and coordination with AM Data Office/FFIO, and processes for managing office space and equipment planning and acquisition
• Provide project planning support and leadership on evaluation, due diligence, selection, onboarding of new strategic service provider/vendor relationships, partnering with FDAM leaders to articulate and document the objectives and qualitative evaluation framework for selection
• Identify and articulate specific needs for new roles to support new capabilities and business growth; think proactively and strategically to identify potential areas of future IS support aligned to FDAM’s growing product/capability offerings
• Define both team and individual goals, work to understand development goals and areas of interest, and focus on providing each team member with opportunities to broaden their relationships, get more visibility across the organization and support their career development

The Expertise and Skills We Are Seeking

• Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA a plus
• 15+ years of experience in the financial services industry, with at least 7 years of work experience in asset management and/or wealth management working in the advisory space.
• Knowledge and experience with blockchain technology, smart contracts, DeFi protocols and applications, and crypto spot and derivatives trading venues, platforms, and protocols required; demonstrated interest and experience in tokenization of financial assets a plus
• Experience with, and knowledge of, investment infrastructure and operating systems and fund accounting and administrative support for digital asset and derivatives trading, experience with investment platform and fund administration support for staking and DeFi investment strategies a plus
• Experience with complex data analysis, including financial, market and investment performance measurements
• Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills with which you influence decisions and engage across Fidelity and at all levels of the organization
• Ability to tailor important communications to an influential broad range of audiences, including the ability to discuss complex and technical issues and communicate them in writing to key constituencies in a straightforward manner
• Ability to diagnose problems quickly and foresee potential issues
• Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, influencing, and consultative skills.
• Understanding of current regulatory frameworks, challenges in different regions and intersection with traditional and decentralized technology capabilities
• 8+ years in executive leadership roles, leading diverse teams across levels and functions with steadfast resolve and personal integrity
