Director of Portfolio and Ecosystem

Since 2017 Animoca Brands has been actively investing in the Web3 and blockchain gaming space, becoming one of the most prominent investors in the emerging ecosystem of Web3 technologies. As a result, Animoca has developed a large portfolio of companies across a variety of verticals and industries.

The Director, Portfolio and Ecosystem’s job will be to dive deep into the mechanics of the minority investment portfolio, understanding each company and providing operational and business development support to portfolio companies whilst concurrently identifying potential synergies and collaboration opportunities with a view to growing the ecosystem as a whole.

The role will require the candidate to develop a deep understanding of Animoca’s portfolio and act as a hub for inbound inquiries from portfolio companies where they require assistance.

Through a deep understanding of the needs of each company combined with a strong overview of the market landscape, the Director, Portfolio and Ecosystem will assist portfolio companies on product/growth strategies, optimization of operational processes and support on critical business development initiatives.

The Director of Portfolio and Ecosystems will utilize both his/her personal network as well as Animoca’s broader connections to provide strategic introductions and information that will help unlock their growth. You will work closely with Animoca Brands senior management to monitor and analyse relevant on-chain and off-chain metrics of portfolio companies, working with Investment and Venture teams as well as Animoca senior management to provide relevant assistance to companies that require strategic input.

The role will require the candidate to develop both regional and international relationships and be involved in recommending initiatives and programs to the executives of Animoca Brands’s portfolio companies.

Among various responsibilities, this role will involve:

• Draw on own and team network to support portfolio companies where possible and build close working relationships with founding teams of portfolio companies
• Identify and execute strategic partnerships for portfolio companies with governmental agencies, corporates, and other relevant ecosystem players, where relevant
• Establish relationships across finance, deal teams, and marketing/PR to expand Animoca Brands’s organizational capacity and accelerate the success of the portfolio companies.
• Provide general in-house consulting and fundraising services for portfolio companies
• Manage complex situations within the portfolio incl. M&A, follow-on rounds (investment memos, deal structuring, returns analysis, legal diligence) and exits
• Where relevant, take on board positions or observer seats representing Animoca Brands and maintain close relationships with our founders to understand key areas of focus to achieve fundraising and business growth milestone targets

Additional scope (where relevant)

• Work with our Investment and Ventures team to proactively identify and assess investment opportunities spanning several sub-sectors and geographies to define an ambitious growth investment roadmap
• Collaborate with Investment teams on live deals from procurement of allocation through deal closing across stakeholders to ensure objectives are met within the deal timeline
• Source early stage investment opportunities.
• Curate and find promising investment opportunities in their by developing relationships with entrepreneurs.
• Grow and maintain relationships with our network of investors across the region and beyond
