Acala’s mission is to build and nurture the autonomous financial infrastructure of the decentralized web. Delivering on this mission will bring more financial accessibility, opportunity, and prosperity to everyone on the planet through a new, open financial system.

Our core project is the Acala Network itself, which we expect to become the de facto DeFi parachain and stablecoin of the Polkadot ecosystem. Polkadot provides the underlying trust primitives to our parachain, upon which we’ve built our suite of financial primitives including; decentralized, multi-collateral stablecoin; trustless staking derivatives, and Decentralized Exchange. These primitives will be used by us and other teams to power open DeFi innovations, and remove the need for the intermediaries that inhabit almost every conventional trust-based financial system.

We have secured our support from eminent backers like Polychain, Coinbase Venture, Pantera and many more. Acala has just began its launch process on December 18, 2021, so there’s no better time to join our mission and be a part of the future that we’re building.

About this role

This Community Manager role is a full-time commitment, and has 2 principal components;

[TL,DR: An ideal role for a Discord-friendly crypto enthusiast, with a long-term interest as ‘Content Strategy Manager’ or similar

1. Reactive. Managing & Maintaining our existing Community Support via Discord & other channels.

As a Community Manager for Acala you will be the official liaison to our growing community of over 1 million people, and responsible for the public perceptions of our DeFi products and their support infrastructure. This is a HUGE duty, but you will not be alone. You’ll be working with two other Community Managers, one in the US and one in Asia, providing 24/5 Discord Moderator availability.

2. Proactive; *Researching, Designing & Developing the Educational Content that our Community needs.

Acala is similar to most Software Product teams in that we need a Community Manager to ‘fight for the users’ and communicate their pain points to our Product Manager(s) & Software Engineers in regular planning sessions. You’ll also eventually be taking a lead in shaping how our Educational & Support Content develops.

Our ideal candidate is already an advanced DeFi user that spends a lot of time in online DeFi community channels, and genuinely enjoys interacting with other DeFi users and helping everyone to learn from each other. But (s)he will also have professional / commercial experience in; Developing Educational Content; Software User Advocacy; Both of these.

What you’ll do:

• Community Management: Moderate community Discord; investigate & solve user issues; ensure guidelines are followed.
• Communications: Review and publish user impact statements; updates to our Ambassadors; Internal escalations & Team briefings.
• User Advocacy: Test new DeFi products & features prior to release; Gather User feedback; Research rival DeFi products for ways to improve what we’re building.
• Educational Content: Create & update user guides; FAQs & Wikis; instructional content for Acala products and events

What it takes:

• Minimum 2 years experience as Community Manager / Moderator / Spokesperson
• Discord Expertise, preferably as a Moderator or an Ambassador for a DeFi project
• Advanced DeFi User experience, and active involvement in crypto communities
• Highly empathetic & professional, even under stress
• Flexibility to work with our global team of 50+ across multiple timezones
• Advanced communication skills; Verbal, written, listening, presentations, texting, tweeting, etc

What ‘perfect’ looks like [and we don’t expect perfect]

• A portfolio of published ‘User Guide’ articles / blogs [send us links, we’ll read them!]
• Video production and editing skills for creating Educational Content
• Familiarity with the Polkadot & Kusama ecosystems
• Experience escalating bugs to Software Engineers
• Experience with 500k+ Userbase(s)
