What you’ll do

• Conduct in-depth research on Ethereum R&D topics, including interoperability, scaling solutions, Ethereum standards (e.g., ERCs/EIPs), staking, MEV, DeFi protocols, privacy, and user experience (UX).
• Write detailed technical reports, articles, and content that make highly complex research accessible and actionable for diverse audiences, including investors, builders, stakeholders, and the general Ethereum community.
• Perform due diligence on blockchain protocols, assessing infrastructure and architecture, and presenting findings in well-structured, technical documentation.
• Stay up-to-date with Ethereum’s development roadmap, contributing insights and thought leadership to key areas of innovation.
• Collaborate with internal teams to produce high-quality content across mediums such as whitepapers, blog posts, and research presentations.
• Engage with the Ethereum community, including developers and researchers, to stay informed and participate in discussions shaping the ecosystem.

What we’re looking for

• Blockchain expertise: Deep familiarity with Layer 1 and Layer 2 blockchain architectures, protocol designs and tradeoffs, and innovations at the application/infrastructure layer.
• Technical writing skills: Proven ability to write clear, concise, and engaging technical content for both expert and non-technical audiences.
• Research skills: Ability to conduct thorough, independent research and synthesize technical information into actionable insights.
• Due diligence experience: Familiarity with evaluating blockchain protocols and projects, including assessing infrastructure, architecture, and operational mechanics.
• Analytical mindset: A critical thinker who can identify trends, challenges, and opportunities within Ethereum’s ecosystem.
• Fast learner: Ability to swiftly comprehend complex topics and work independently in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment.
• Communication skills: Strong ability to write long-form research about complex ideas in a way that is clear, cohesive, accurate, and understandable by a broad audience.
• Passion for Ethereum: Strong enthusiasm for Ethereum’s mission and a commitment to advancing its development.
• Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team and engage with the broader Ethereum community.

Nice to haves

• Experience contributing to Ethereum research, open-source projects, or standards discussions.
• Understanding of cryptoeconomic mechanisms, game theory, or protocol design.
• Data analysis & visualization skills: Ability to work with tools like SQL or Python to process and analyze data, create insightful visualizations, and present findings through clear and digestible charts or other graphical formats (or the desire to develop these skills).
