BE Engineer with Exchange Experience

VDEX is a decentralized perpetual exchange built on a Virtual Rollups (zero knowledge state channels) with instant finality and ZeroGas fees. The Protocol is looking for a senior backend engineer to build and scale core backend systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable backend services in Go and TypeScript.
• Implement low‑latency, event‑driven systems for real‑time trading workflows.
• Own core financial protocol logic: margining, liquidation, funding, pricing, and risk controls.
• Integrate off‑chain backend systems with on‑chain components where needed.
• Improve reliability, observability, and operational tooling for production services.
• Lead system design discussions and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• 5+ years building scalable distributed systems.
• Strong Go skills; experience with TypeScript a plus.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, data consistency, and microservices.
• Experience with SQL (Postgres), REST APIs, and event‑driven architectures.
• Familiarity with Kafka (or similar), Redis, and cache design patterns.
• Knowledge of cryptographic principles and key management.
• Comfortable with Docker, AWS, and CI/CD pipelines.
• CEX/DEX experience
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Understand our whitepaper.

Nice to Have

• DeFi and blockchain fundamentals (EVM, tokens, yields).
• Experience with smart contracts (Solidity).
• Familiarity with ethers.js or go‑ethereum.
• Familiarity with Google Cloud infrastructure.
• Understanding of trading concepts like order books, perpetuals, and risk.
