Who we are

SportsIcon are bringing fans closer to their sporting heroes through NFTs.

We’ve just closed a pre-seed round with some all-star investors including Chad Hurley (Youtube), Nas (rapper turned investor), Roham Gharegozlou (Dapper Labs), Andrew Masanto (Hashgraph Hedera), and many more.

Through a combination of athlete-curated digital art and bespoke content created exclusively with the athlete by the SportsIcon team, we enable fans to get closer than ever before to their sporting heroes.

The day-to-day

As this is a senior developer role, you will largely set your own priorities, goals and ways of working and figure things out on the fly. But some key elements will likely include the following.

Your domain will be growing to own our NodeJS API which connects to our core services to Hedera Hashgraph services. As the months go by you will have the opportunity to expand your influence over the entire stack. Don’t worry if you don’t have experience with Hedera Hashgraph we can support you to level up.

Month 1:

Spend high-quality time onboarding with the product and technical team. Get to grips with the NodeJS API, Hedera Services, and community-driven SDKs.

If you need to level up your knowledge of hedera you will work with the team and Hedera MVPs, we will be on hand to help you out.

Start contributing to your first code, which will be a core part of our NFT issuance platform.

Month 2+

Work with designers and the product team regarding our future projects including an NFT marketplace.

Build a relationship with the Dapper Labs team and key individuals within the Hedera community.

You’ll have the opportunity to drive impact on other parts of our blockchain stack.

Who we’re looking for

Below are the key traits and experiences an ideal candidate will probably have. Because people’s stories are all different and we’re not looking for someone who fits in a box - so this is a wish list, not a precise recipe. If the role sounds exciting to you, please drop us a line in any case.

We’d be looking for an individual who…

• Quickly gains proficiency when exposed to unfamiliar technical patterns, systems, or languages
• Is able to unblock individuals when they are faced with technical challenges across the spectrum of a stack
• Is a strong communicator who can collaborate well with other non-technical functions (e.g. Product & Design)
• Has the courage to try out new tools, fail fast, and dive into unknowns to solve new and challenging problems
• Energized by the challenge and opportunity of working with new languages and programming paradigms.
• Happy to create new scripts to save the development team time when inefficiencies are uncovered.

It would be a plus if you also…

• Have an entrepreneurial drive and can’t help but to develop unique projects.
• Passionate about crypto and or sports
• A working understanding of one or more of Solidity, Cadence, or Hedera services.
• Significant contributions or leadership of an open-source project.
• Have a strong understanding of application and API security, you have a soft spot for HMAC.
