Senior Front End Engineer

Sense builds products that allow users to hedge interest rate volatility and express views about future interest rates and protocol risk. Our main product, the Sense Protocol, will be the next piece of permissive DeFi infrastructure, enabling the creation of fixed income instruments and yield curves across the universe of yield generating activity.

Role

We’re looking for a bold, curious engineer with high standards to help us create interfaces for Sense. As the first frontend hire, you will work directly with the founders (Josh & Kenton) to create a suite of web products, all of which you will be able to influence in creation, design, and execution. You will be responsible for ensuring a consistent, high-quality user experience across trading interfaces, data-heavy analytics pages, documentation portals, and more.

Responsibilities

• Rapidly implement functional UI elements from design mocks, with an eye toward performance and accessibility
• Bootstrap, iterate on, and own primary interfaces for Sense Protocol
• Know when to create abstractions vs. one-off features
• Ensure that components are functional, elegant, performant, and mobile-friendly
• Understand when and how to run UI tests

Requirements

• 3+ years of React experience
• A deep understanding of modern client-side React applications and their architecture
• Prior experience with responsive design and mobile-first applications
• Comfortable working with design teams
• A desire to keep up with modern best practices in web development
• Native-level fluency in English (spoken and written)

Nice to Haves

• Familiarity with the web3 frontend stack (ethers.js/web3.js, EIP-1193, client-side private key management, etc.)
• Experience with Next.js and static site generation
• Experience with Design systems
• Experience with TypeScript in React
