Head of Engineering Mission:

This is an opportunity to join Polychain to lead and continue to build and shape the Technology function of the World’s leading cryptocurrency investment firm. The mission of the role is to achieve the highest security bar imaginable whilst creating and driving technical initiatives for the world’s leading cryptocurrency investment firm. The principle need is to architect and build both online and offline systems to securely store and interact with a variety of cryptocurrency protocols. Develop engineering protocols and standards to encourage rapid development. This job is remote friendly but USA based.

Responsibilities

Risk Management

• Own the framework and standards for how Polychain identifies, measures, and remediates risk collaboration with finance, legal, and business partners.
• Provide recommendations on how Polychain stores funds and the differentiated risks with different approaches.
• Track and provide updates on all aspects of Crypto holdings at PC collaborating with partners in Finance.

Crypto Storage & Network Interaction

• Partner with external Custody partners to ensure secure custody of all funds
• Architect and implement online & offline systems to securely interact with cryptocurrency networks
• Address and mitigate a litany of security concerns emerging from cryptocurrency storage and network interaction
• Manage and monitor cloud infrastructure
• Hands on development as needed

Technical Leadership across Polychain

• Identify gaps in the organization and build an engineering team to ensure full coverage
• Provide management, coaching and mentorship across the technical team
• Develop and own strategic plans and set timelines for evaluation, development, and deployment of all technical aspects of Polychain’s cryptocurrency network interaction.
• Lead design and architecture for Polychain’s most critical systems
• Create appropriate SLAs / KPIs and communicate them regularly to the business.
• Supervise and ensure quality levels, service levels, and hold vendors accountable to them.
• Be an expert in industry trends, development, security, and technology.
• Communicating and following-up with partners, investors, and stakeholders, addressing their feedback and sharing strategy, roadmap, and any changes.
• Ensure best practices, and technology standards across all aspects of crypto holdings and potential investment(s).
• Oversee technology architecture and infrastructure to ensure functionality, security, and efficiency.

Corporate Security

• Own and continually improve Account Lifecycle Management: on/offboarding, documentation, etc.
  • Understand, communicate gaps, and drive plans to remediate.
• Own and be accountable to Technology Lifecycle Management: phones, laptops, hardware wallets, etc.
  • Perform regular audits and identify any gaps in process.
  • Understand, communicate gaps, and drive plans to remediate.
• Define, implement, and audit all Endpoint Security programs in regards to MFA/Vulnerability detection, and Saas product usage and access.
• Assist and be accountable to providing Legal and Discovery resources upon request.

Future Business Partnership

• Partner with leadership team to identify the correct strategy in regards to exploring new business opportunities as they arise
• Partner with cross-functional leadership to identify opportunities to provide technical leadership to the Polychain portfolio.

Requirements

• Significant hands on technical development experience (Primary requirement).
• Solid experience leading, coaching, and mentoring a technical team (secondary requirement).
• Experience managing cross-functional and distributed teams.
• In depth blockchain/cryptocurrency industry experience. A deep understanding of the blockchain industry, tokenomics and decentralized product development would be a strong plus.
• Solid experience of at least one backend language (Node.js/Python/Ruby)
• Knowledge of .YubiHSM OR PKCS11 OR CloudHSM OR CloudKMS OR KMS
• Extensive experience in modern software engineering practices and standards including cloud computing platforms (GCP preferred), container management, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
• Exceptional interpersonal and collaboration skills
• A solutions oriented approach and tenacity with problem solving
• Quick learner who loves co-creating with others and building team cohesiveness
• Understanding of current and future market trends and how blockchain can be utilized
