Senior Fullstack Web3 Engineer

Lazy Lions has firmly established itself in the top 50 volume traded stats on Opensea for the past year. We are looking to hire an experienced, fullstack engineer with a passion for all things Web3, crypto and NFT.

If you are the right person for this role, you’ll definitely be excited by the following challenges:

• Working with a globally distributed team to design and build amazing new products for our loyal community.
• Diving into sometimes chaotic, always exciting project environments that are exploring new concepts in emerging Web3 areas such as the metaverse.
• Ensuring that everything we launch to our community is high-quality and secure. It’s not always the most exciting part of the job but we have to make sure we’re measuring ourselves against some very high standards.
• Providing your insights and opinions into the product development process and contributing end-to-end: from idea conception through to go-live.
• Working collaboratively and negotiating with other functions to agree on what is possible, always with the user front and center in our decision making process (and not what’s necessarily the easiest thing for us to do to just get the job done).

What does success look like?

We’ll work with the successful candidate to define these, but we expect the following will feature strongly as areas your work will be contributing to:

• We’ll routinely hit our code quality and test coverage metrics on all our engineering projects.
• We’ll grow our existing, passionate community across Discord, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok and they’re all buzzing about the products you helped to build.
• We’ll significantly drive volume traded and floor price performance throughout the year.
• We’ll see our brand rise up the rankings and establish itself in the top 10.

What skills you’ll need

• You’ll be able to point to a career history where you’ve worked with teams building Web3 products & services, including smart contracts
• You’ll be very comfortable with security best practices for blockchain and Web3 applications
• You’ll be happy in an environment where unit-testing and CI/CD is part of the engineering culture (and not just a chore that needs to be done)
• In terms of pure technical skills, you’ll need to be proficient in the following:
  • Experience with smart contracts interactions, primarily using ethers.js
  • Knowledge of the standards for token contracts (ERC-20, ERC-721, ERC-1155, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Javascript/TypeScript, React, Next.js, ethers.js, Tailwind CSS, Python, HTML, CSS, Web3
• You’ll be able to build quality UI, which you will develop alongside our creative team and your engineering colleagues. You’ll need a real eye for detail here to make sure what’s coded reflects the product vision.
• You’ll be someone that thrives in a fast-moving, remote-first working environment, where you’ll be in regular contact with the Founders. There’s always a lot going on so you’ll need to be on top of your priorities and be able to communicate well with your remote colleagues.
• You’ll have experience in the Web3 world, particularly NFTs. You’ll also be across the emerging metaverse and keenly interested in what’s going on there. You might also be a gamer at heart.

Bonus points if you have any of these, but if you don’t, please don’t let them stop you from applying; they’re not requirements:

• A qualification in the computer science, data science or cryptography field (hands-on experience in the latter two is cool, too)
• Launched your own cryptocurrency or NFT project
• Experience in the video game industry.

The process

If you feel like you have the desire, skills and experience required, we’d love to hear from you. We’re not a big corporate so our hiring process is quick and transparent. This is how things will be handled:

• CVs reviewed by our hiring team - we’ll get back to you with a week or so with some feedback
• If we feel like there could be a match, we’ll set up an initial 30-minute meet-and-greet chat with one of the leadership team. You’ll get feedback after this chat too.
• Assuming we both enjoy that chat, you’ll then have the opportunity to speak to one of the senior tech team members. During this call, we’ll likely ask you to talk us through:
  • How your past career experience maps to this role
  • To explain how you’d structure your first 30-60-90 day plan if you were to take on the role
  • Some specifics around how you’d propose to contribute to achieving the success metrics above.
• We’ll commit to providing feedback with you as soon as we can after that call, but certainly within 5 days.
