Senior Software Engineer

πŸ’₯ Our Mission

EverGive fights for two things: a free world and a happy one.

It was originally conceived as the answer to a radical question: What if donations didn’t just get spent? What if they compounded over time and lasted forever instead? EverGive is on a mission to do just that - make donations compound and last forever, building the foundations of a free and happy world.

We are pioneering a model where donations are invested to last forever, creating financial freedom for charities. We use Bitcoin as the vehicle to ensure security, transparency, and long-term growth.

We build on Bitcoin because we believe in freedom. We believe the weaponisation of money is the biggest form of structural control over society. We weaken this structure by restoring sound money (Bitcoin). Bitcoin is a direct threat to authoritarian control because it hands economic sovereignty back to the individual. If a people are economically sovereign at the individual level, it makes it materially harder to control them. The fight for Bitcoin is the fight for a free society.

Our micro-why is to secure the financial future of humanity, and our macro-why is a free and happy society.

⚑️ Your Mission

Join us as our Senior Software Engineer and help build the future of mission-driven giving! πŸš€

We’re looking for a highly capable Senior Engineer who thrives in early-stage environments and enjoys owning complex problems end-to-end. You’ll work closely with our Head of Engineering, CEO, and cross-functional squads to design, build, and scale the core platform powering EverGive.

This isn’t a “just ship tickets” role. This is a role for someone who takes pride in architecture, delivery, and enabling the whole team to move faster. You’ll lead by example on code quality, enforce best practices, and make thoughtful technical decisions that set us up for scale. From shipping new features to refining developer workflows, you’ll help us evolve from early product-market fit into a platform trusted by charities and donors worldwide.

  • Department: Engineering
  • Schedule: Full-Time
  • Reporting to: Head of Engineering
  • Salary Range: 85k-95k

πŸ† What you’ll do:

  • Own end-to-end delivery of complex features and technical initiatives with minimal oversight.
  • Enable the team by identifying blockers, unblocking them quickly, and ensuring predictable, steady delivery.
  • Champion code quality by setting and enforcing modern coding standards and ensuring all code meets agreed quality levels.
  • Drive architecture discussions and decisions, identifying long-term risks and opportunities for the platform.
  • Continuously improve performance, tooling, workflows, and overall developer experience across the software lifecycle.
  • Document with clarity so technical knowledge is complete, accurate, and useful for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Enforce best practices across the team, including:
    • Automated testing and CI/CD pipelines
    • Dependency and toolchain upkeep
    • Codebase health and disciplined refactoring

πŸ‘Ύ Who you are:

Essential

  • 5+ years professional engineering experience, ideally in a high-growth tech or start-up environment.
  • Proven track record in building and maintaining production systems with:
    • TypeScript (Node.js and/or modern frontend frameworks)
    • PostgreSQL
    • AWS services (ECS, RDS, S3)
    • Nix
    • Terraform
    • React
  • Strong grounding in software design principles and architectural patterns.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve workflows, coding standards, or delivery processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills - you value clarity, especially in documentation and cross-team collaboration.
  • Passion for EverGive’s mission and curiosity about Bitcoin as a force for good.

Desired

  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, AWS CDK, etc).
  • Previous experience in a start-up or fast-paced environment.

πŸ‘₯ Our Team and Way We Work

EverGive is largely a hybrid-remote organisation - most roles are remote and involve gathering in London once a month. This Senior Software Engineer is different: you’ll be on‑site in our central London workspace five days per week, to work more closely with our CEO and Product Manager.

Why We’re Moving In-Person We’ve been a remote team since our early days, with brilliant colleagues still working remotely today. That flexibility helped us get off the ground and move fast with an early team.
But as we enter our next chapter of doubling down on EverGive, we believe that building something bold and enduring now requires greater speed, creativity, and collaboration. For our new hires in London, we’re moving to full-time, in-person. Here’s why we think that matters, and what it means for you:

  • A true seat at the table: You won’t just be working through Slack or Zoom. You’ll be in the room with our founder and early teammates, shaping the product, the culture, and the trajectory of the company.
  • Osmosis at start-up speed: When every whiteboard session, every debate, every breakthrough happens live, you learn and grow at a pace that’s hard to match anywhere else.
  • The best of both worlds: You’ll still collaborate with brilliant remote colleagues, while being at the heart of a London squad that’s designed for energy, creativity, and momentum.
  • Mission-driven intensity: If you care about EverGive’s mission, there’s no better place to be than right here, co-creating with people who share your fire.

This isn’t the path for everyone. But if you want to build shoulder-to-shoulder with exceptional peers, learn directly from our founder, and see the impact of your work every single day, this will be the most rewarding environment you’ll find.

🧸 What you’ll get:

  • Competitive Pay: A package designed to reward your talent and drive, with clear growth paths as we scale.
  • Ownership in Our Success: Receive equity through our share option scheme and become a true stakeholder in EverGive’s growth and impact.
  • Comprehensive Healthcare: Full private healthcare cover, because your well-being matters.
  • Learn and Grow: Annual training budget plus three paid days to upskill, explore, and develop yourself.
  • Delicious Team Lunches: On in-person days, enjoy freshly prepared, restaurant-quality lunches made by our personal chef. We believe good food fuels good work, and shared meals are the best kind of team time.
  • Impact Beyond Your Role: Use our giving programme to support causes close to your heart.
  • Time to Recharge: 25 days of holiday (plus public holidays), because we believe rest fuels creativity.
  • Sick Pay: Available to support you on those days when you’re under the weather.

πŸ’ Values

πŸ’š Meaning Matters: We’re here to make a real impact. We care deeply about our users, their causes, and the change we create. We focus on building genuine connections, delivering results, and staying true to our mission without compromising on trust.

🧹 Mop the Floor: We roll up our sleeves and do whatever it takes to help the team succeed. No task is too small, and “not my job” isn’t in our vocabulary. We take ownership and work together to achieve shared goals.

πŸš€ Forward Momentum: We act quickly and decisively, focusing on progress over perfection. Everyone is empowered to take ownership, make an impact, and keep things moving forward in our fast-paced environment.

🌱 1% Better Every Day: We embrace growth by striving to improve just a little every day - individually and as a team. We tackle challenges, learn from experience, and continuously seek new ways to grow, never settling for complacency.

😁 Delight Our Customers: Our donors and charity partners are at the heart of everything we do. We listen, empathise, and innovate to solve their problems and exceed expectations, delivering exceptional experiences that create lasting value.
