What is the Filecoin Foundation

The Filecoin Foundation (FF) is an organization that facilitates governance of the Filecoin network, funds critical development projects, supports the growth of the Filecoin ecosystem, and advocates for Filecoin and the decentralized web. In 2017, the creators of Filecoin envisioned that an independent Filecoin Foundation would serve as the long-term governance body for the Filecoin Ecosystem. They gave the Foundation the mandate to “grow an open ecosystem for decentralized storage” and to “give developers an open and sustainable platform to build, enhance and monetize those services.” They wanted the Foundation to be modeled on Foundations for other open source projects like the Apache Software Foundation, the Mozilla Foundation and the Linux Foundation. The Filecoin Foundation operates independently of Protocol Labs, the organization that designed and built the Filecoin network. As a member of our early-stage team, you will have the opportunity to help define our growth as the organization scales.

Job description and responsibilities

Filecoin Foundation is looking for an experienced designer who is excited to help us make a mark. As an early team member, you will have the opportunity to help us define our visual identity, helping to tell the story of Filecoin and the Foundation while we expand our activities. You will work closely with the Head of Communications and Marketing to define our visual identity and create all visual assets for our website, blog posts, presentations, social media, and more. You will also help develop and maintain the Foundation’s websites and user interfaces, so some front-end development experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Help to define our visual identity, with the Head of Communications
• Ensure we maintain a consistent brand identity across all channels
• Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to produce visual content, including Foundation team members and outside organizations
• Create and manage all brand collateral, including logos and promotional materials
• Produce, maintain, and modify websites and user interfaces, using programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• Develop assets for our website, blog posts, and other outlets as needed
• Create and manage visual aspects of presentations for internal use and external speaking events
• Create and manage visual aspects of our social media and other marketing channels
• Create and manage visual assets that other team members can draw from for their own work

Your profile

• 4-6 years of relevant experience
• Experience working with tech companies
• Experience creating and maintaining digital assets
• Experience with programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• Experience with tools like command line, npm, GitHub, etc.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma or other design software
• Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders
• Passion for the decentralized web and information access
• Open-source software familiarity preferred

This position is remote, from anywhere in the world. We are open to full time, part time, or contract roles for the right candidate. Your work day should overlap at least partially with US East Coast business hours.
