Four Years of Cryptocurrency Jobs

Reflecting on Cryptocurrency Jobs' four year journey to help build our decentralized future.

A few weeks ago, Cryptocurrency Jobs turned four.

As part of this milestone, I want to reflect on how and why Cryptocurrency Jobs came to be, what’s changed over the years, and talk about what’s next as we all look towards the future of this space.

I launched Cryptocurrency Jobs in October 2017.

I had completed the Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Technologies course, fallen down the rabbit hole, and felt there was a need for a resource that provided curated job opportunities. I also wanted to get involved and contribute to the community.

What followed was a 2.5 year bear market with a series of high-profile layoffs and the declarations that crypto is dead.

But like many of you, I kept showing up and continued to work. Now everyone is hiring and looking for talented crypto humans.

And after having spoken with 50+ teams this year and been in touch with countless people looking to transition into crypto, I don’t see this changing.

I often get asked how many people are on my team and if Cryptocurrency Jobs is venture-funded.

Cryptocurrency Jobs is independent, bootstrapped, and run by me. I do the code, design, support requests, and everything in between. I’m able to do this because of you. Get in touch, and you’ll always reach me.

The most rewarding part of this journey has been all the stories you’ve shared on how Cryptocurrency Jobs has helped you find your place in this space.

One story that stands out is the anon that got their start in crypto several years ago through the job board, and is now the co-founder of a venture-backed startup, and is using Cryptocurrency Job to grow their team.

Another story is about the tech veteran with a mental disorder that is using Cryptocurrency Jobs to transition careers because of how this space allows for global, inclusive participation.

These personal stories, and the outsized returns Cryptocurrency Jobs has delivered to the community, are the main motivations of why I keep working on it every day. And that’s why I’m excited to share a few updates.

During the weekend, I relaunched Cryptocurrency Jobs after spending the past few months rebuilding and redesigning the site from the ground up. It’s still a work in progress, more is coming, but we’re heading in the right direction.

I’m also excited to welcome on board two new partners to Cryptocurrency Jobs:

  • Alchemy is the platform layer needed to empower developers to build great applications that tap into the blockchain revolution. The team recently announced a $250M Series C round of funding. (We’re hiring!)
  • ChainSafe Systems is a blockchain R&D firm on a mission to realize the potential of Web3 infrastructure through sustainable, open-source development. They’re the team behind projects such as Lodestar, Forest, Gossamer, Web3.js, and Ethermint. (We’re hiring!)

These partnerships are a further step toward our joint mission to grow the crypto space and build a decentralized future.

As I continue to build and expand Cryptocurrency Jobs, I remain committed to making this a friendly place for people everywhere. That’s why all content will remain open and accessible to all.

There will be no gatekeeping. Everyone is welcome, and you all have a place in crypto.

To all the crypto curious, newsletter subscribers, contributors, supporters, partners and friends, followers, and friendly visitors, thank you for your continued support and for making all this possible.

To all the teams that have trusted Cryptocurrency Jobs with their hiring needs, advertisers, and community sponsors, thank you for your continued support.

Sending you all wagmi vibes,
Daniel
